Support Legal Services for Boston's Most Vulnerable
With your support, we can give people a voice in decisions that can drastically alter their lives
I have been working with Lawyers Clearinghouse for three years. I began as a volunteer attorney attending legal clinics at homeless shelters and now co-manage my Firm's relationship with the Clearinghouse where I organize clinics and provide guidance on cases managed by other attorneys.
During my work with the Clearinghouse I have represented clients who faced eviction and those who lived in shelters while trying to obtain housing. I have worked with individuals seeking immigration status and those seeking to maintain their Social Security benefits. I have cleared criminal records and negotiated payment plans for those trying to pay back past debts (often of very modest amounts).
From the clients I have worked with, two themes have emerged: First, the impact to their case simply by having a lawyer place a call on their behalf. I have also been struck by the kindness and gratitude of those I have represented. Calls with Clearinghouse clients have often been the highlight of my work day.
This holiday season please consider donating to this small nonprofit that makes a big impact in the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
